But that’s a good thing!

Get Outside Events is excited to be partnering with the Alleghany Wellness Center (AWC) in Sparta, NC.  Alleghany Wellness Center will be GOMR Village for the GOMR weekend.

This relationship helps in many ways, all of which benefit the runners.

  • Sparta is in the center of Alleghany County and AWC is within a mile from downtown, but it’s still quiet and peaceful and perfect for team camping.
  • AWC has facilities that we’ll be able to use throughout the weekend.
  • Indoor bathrooms and showers will be available all weekend.
  • There’s plenty of room to stretch out and relax between running your relay legs.
  • GOMR Central (inside the facility) is the central location for check in, meals, hanging out, race information, shuttle info, and all activities will be over the weekend.

GOMR Village will be alive with activity for the weekend.  There may even be yoga and massages available. 

Get ready to have a great time at GOMR!!

FROM I-77 NORTH - Charlotte, Winston-Salem, Greensboro, Raleigh

  • Take Exit 83 (left exit) for US-21 N/Elkin Bypass/Sparta for 24.6 miles.
  • Turn Left onto S Sparta Parkway for 0.9 miles.
  • Turn Left onto W Whitehead Street (NC Highway 18 S) for 463 feet.
  • Turn Right onto Collins Road. AWC (GOMR Village) is 1/2 mile on Right.

FROM I-77 SOUTH - Wytheville (VA), Lynchburg (VA), Blacksburg (VA), Beckley (WV))

  • Take exit 14 for US-58/US-221 toward Hillsville/Galax.
  • Bottom of exit, turn right on US-221 S/US-58 W/Carrollton Pike for 24.7 miles.
  • Turn left onto US-21 S/US-221 S/S Independence Ave for 7.1 miles.
  • Turn Left onto US-21 S for 2.2 miles.
  • Turn Right onto Sparta Parkway for 0.8 miles.
  • Turn Right onto W Whitehead Street (NC Highway 18 S) for 463 feet.
  • Turn Right onto Collins Road. AWC (GOMR Village) is 1/2 mile on Right.

FROM BOONE/BLOWING ROCK AREA

**GPS will take you on back roads. Best to follow directions below.**

  • Drive US-421 S out of Boone to Deep Gap.
  • Turn Left onto US 221 North for 16.8 miles.
  • Continue Straight on NC-16S/NC-88 E for 13.2 miles. (Stay Straight on NC-88 E when NC-16 turns Right at bridge.)
  • Turn Left on NC-18 N for 12.2 miles.
  • Turn Left onto Collins Road. AWC (GOMR Village) is 1/2 mile on Right.

FROM WILKESBORO, LENOIR AREA

  • Drive NC-18 N out of Wilkes County to NC-18/US-21 intersection in downtown Sparta.
  • From County Line, drive 15.9 miles.
  • Turn Left onto Collins Road. AWC (GOMR Village) is 1/2 mile on Right.

FROM MT. AIRY

  • Drive NC-89 N to top of mountain in Low Gap, NC.
  • Turn Left on NC-18 S for 15.9 miles.
  • Turn Right onto Collins Road. AWC (GOMR Village) is 1/2 mile on Right
